This strategy is aimed at reducing poverty, eliminating chronic homeless, providing employment and reducing child poverty by 25%. However, 4.8 million Canadians still live in poverty and 12 millions of those are children. Internal government estimates that child poverty rate was between 11.7 and 13 % in 2017 based on the LIM data. Despite that Ontario government has injected $10 million to combat homeless, there are still also 35,000 homeless people on any given night.
